Along the way in our journey of life, special people play key roles in being companions, guides, and caretakers. No one walks alone! Many young people, today, need the support and encouragement from people who are willing to share a little precious time together.
Education is a tremendous vehicle to success, and it takes a team effort to move her wheels. Parents and teachers, alone, are not always enough to provide the learning opportunities for students who face so many obstacles in their paths: learning differences, language barriers, social and economic issues, and more. If you are able to read this article, you have a great gift that was shared with you by some special people. And you have a great gift to share with other special people who are eager to learn.
Volunteer Tutors are needed to help with reading, math, computers, and homework help. Our learning centers operate Monday through Friday from 3pm - 6pm, all year round. Typically, a volunteer tutor commits to a 2 hour session, one day a week. Students range from 1st grade through high school. Volunteers range in ages from 11yrs. old to 87yrs. young.
A willingness and desire to share your life and experience with others is the main requirement. Orientation and training are available for volunteers who express the desire and need. Fingerprint clearance, by the California Department of Justice, is required of volunteers 18 years or older in order to ensure the safety of our students.
Building bridges connects lives, and closes the gaps that seperate people. Our organization embraces people of diverse cultures, ages, religions and class.
Although education is our focus in providing the opportunity for kids to succeed in school, it is through building of relationships, at our learning centers, that lives are connected, and the future is discovered to be a better place to live.
The future is affected by choices we make in the present. Will you choose to build today's bridges? Then join us in changing the future . . . one child at a time.
