4th Annual Courthouse Classic 5K

The 4th Annual Algiers Courthouse Classic, 5K Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2000. The race begins at 9 am at the Algiers Courthouse, 225 Morgan Street, near the Algiers/Canal Street Ferry terminal in Algiers Point. The race course takes runners through scenic historic Old Algiers and will return to the Courthouse.
Entry fees for the race start at $15 with early registration by mail. Children (6-12 years are invited to participate for $7.50 when accompanied by an adult. Race day entry fee is $18. A No-T-shirt option entry fee on race day is $14. The fee includes an official Algiers Courthouse Classic T-shirt, refreshments at the post-race party and participation in a drawing for door prizes. First and Second place awards will be presented in each age category for runners and walkers (male, female and child) finishing the 5K course. Entry forms may be picked up at the Algiers Courthouse or by calling race director Dione Harmon at 269-4098. Race Day registration starts at 8 am at the Courthouse. T-shirts and race numbers for all entrants will be available the day of the race.
Proceeds from the race will benefit improvement projects on the Courthouse by The Friends of the Algiers Courthouse. The Friends is a nonprofit organization pledged to preserve and maintain the Algiers Courthouse for historical, educational and public use.
