The Pier

The Pier is a 67-unit condominium located in Fort Norfolk, minutes from downtown Norfolk, VA on the Elizabeth River.  Actually, we consider ourselves to be “in” the river, as our building is on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. 

The Pier is close to mile marker zero on the inland waterway, and the Half Moone Cruise Terminal is just east of the Pier, so we have a wonderful view of pleasure craft as they move north and south along the Intracoastal Waterway and cruise ships as the arrive and depart for exotic locations.  We are also privileged to see every type of Navy and Coast Guard ship as well as a wide variety of commercial vessels passing by the Pier on their way to and from the shipyards and commercial docks along the Norfolk and Portsmouth waterfront.  The Pier is an historical landmark and was converted from a 100+-year-old cotton warehouse.  Our building is mentioned on all the boats that conduct local river tours.

The Pier Marina has 35 newly renovated slips with electrical and water connections for our residents.

Other amenities include:

     A large, attractive and well appointed lobby with a wonderful view of the Elizabeth River

     A Yacht Club facing the river – a large meeting/party room with bar facilities and restrooms that can be reserved by residents

    Cable TV access installed in each unit, with basic service included in the monthly fee

     Monthly parties hosted by residents

     On site custodian Monday-Friday

     Locked storage room for bicycles (access from outside)

     Security systems that control access to the building and the parking lot

     Reserved resident parking

     Locked storage cages for each unit

     Dry cleaning pickup and delivery service

     Newspaper delivery to your door

     A lending library with books donated by residents and a Book Club that meets monthly

We welcome pets (small domestic dogs, cats, and birds).  A large, fully fenced dog park is available next door at PETA.

The Pier is a financially stable condominium.  A professional management consulting firm recently completed our Reserve Study.  The Reserve Study reported that our reserves are adequate, thus reducing the likelihood of an assessment for common area repairs or renovations.

The Pier is located near Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Heart Hospital, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, and the Midtown Tunnel to Portsmouth.  We are a short walk from the new Medical Center Light Rail station.
