The Mission of the Youth Center is to ''help youth be all they can be'' while focusing on keeping them out of trouble and guiding them to productive adulthood. A volunteer Board of Directors governs Youth Center activities while a team of highly competent professional staff members manage day-to-day operations and program delivery.
The Youth Center provides social, recreational and educational programs for youth between the ages of 2 and 18 with special emphasis on middle and high school students. Programs are funded entirely by contributions and modest activity fees. The Youth Center does not receive local, state or federal funding.
The Youth Center occupies an important niche in the support structure for children. For nearly a half-century it has helped good kids STAY good. Study after study has proven that programs like those provided by the Youth Center, which help deter negative behavior, are for more effective and cost far less than those designed for rehabilitation.
Because of the unique position of the Youth Center within the community it is able to assess and quickly react to the needs of youth. Strong, long-standing, collaborative partnerships with school districts, local cities/agencies, police departments and other non-profit agencies facilitate a broad base of resources.
The Youth Center is proud of the positive role it plays in keeping our communities wonderful places to live and work.
The Youth Center offers the following activites on an ongoing basis: Free After School program, free Homework Clinic, After School Instrumental Music Classes, Safe Rides, Drug Alternative Nights & Community Events (D.A.N.C.E.), Recreational Gymnastics, Teen Club, Spring and Summer Daycamp programs, Summer Mountain Camp, Summer Catalina Camp and ''Every 15 Minutes''.
