What Is Tri-Cities S.A.L.T.?

The Tri-Cities S.A.L.T. Council includes seniors, senior-caretakers and, as their time and duties permit, representatives from various law enforcement agencies such as: Fulton County Sheriff's Office; Dekalb County Sheriff?’s Office; MARTA Police Department; East Point Police Department; East Point Community Services Division; East Point Emergency Response Team; East Point Emergency Preparedness Team; Protective Services; Georgia State Ombudsman; Georgia Cares; East Point NORC. The Tri-Cities S.A.L.T. Council, formed in October 1995, includes East Point, College Park and Hapeville. [Most recent activity, however, has been localized to East Point.] The group meets monthly to discuss countless matters related to the safety and security of the elderly. The informal setting allows for much sharing of ideas and opinions. [Refreshments are included.]

When and Where Do You Meet?

Tri-Cities SALT Council meetings are held on the second Monday of each month from 11:00 am until Noon [1 hour]. Consider this your special invitation to attend. Through Fulton County, the H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility [Bowden] has been made available for our activities. Bowden is located at 2885 Church ST in East Point [30344], at the intersection of Dorsey AVE.

What Are Some Council Activities

Annually, we present our Fall Senior Safety Conference that warns senior citizens of predators targeting them during the Holiday Season. Our last Conference took place as usual, at the Bowden Senior Facility in East Point, on Monday November 3rd, 2009.
At our meetings, we circulate pictures of missing persons.
We participate in a Cell Phone Recycling program for [featuring cell phones linked to ?‘911?’].
We produce publications related to our ?‘Topic of the Month?’ [e.g., Foreclosures, Identity Theft, Hazards of Smoking, Holiday Safety].
In the formulative stages is a Directory of Public Safety Services offered by each of the organizational members of our Council.
