Trinity Human Services Corporation

Mission and History

The Trinity Human Services Corporation is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and was established in 1981. Since 1991 Trinity has been a social service center, open Tuesday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, working to address the varied needs of its community members.Trinity's goal is to help alleviate family poverty in the Williamsburg area and its surrounding Bushwick and Greenpoint communities. Trinity not only offers social services, but a food pantry as well. During the last calendar year the Center served over 45,000 meals and had over 14,000 client contacts. It is the only social service food pantry with daily operating hours in the Williamsburg area.

Trinity has established a One Stop Family Service Center offering Social Services as well as a variety of programs, workshops and classes for its low-income and minority clients. Trinity offers Free Clothing Rooms, a low cost Thrift Store and a low cost Furniture Store. Additionally, Trinity offers topical workshops on successful Parenting and how to obtain MTA discounts. Some classes offered at Trinity are; ESL at both beginner and intermediate levels and Healthy Choices which addresses safe sex, nutrition, and pregnancy for young women.

Main Initiatives

FOOD PANTRY

THSC boasts the only daily operated food pantry in the Williamsburg, Bushwick and Greenpoint area. We serve brown bag pantry bags filled with food proportional to the family size. Customers are able to come pick up their allotment of food once a month.

The pantry operates 9 am - 4 pm Tuesday- Friday

SOCIAL SERVICES

Social Services at Trinity offer individual and family case managment in the form of translation, housing, advoccacy, legal assistance, job search etc... Social Services are available from Tuesday through Friday 9am- 4pm

Programs

CLOTHING

THSC has free clothing rooms which supply Men, Women and Children with clothing. One goal of THSC is to help our customers find jobs and for that reason, the majority of free clothing in the rooms is professional attire perfect for interviews.

The Thrift store and Furniture store sell very dicousnted clothing, home furnishings, appliances, and kitchen wear at extremely low prices. The profit from the stores helps support the social service programs and workshops. The store excepts donations of clothings and pickups can be arranged for furniture.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

The ESL program at THSC has two differnt curriculums to best fit the needs of our cutomers. We have formal classes and a one on one tutoring program. The classes are held wednesdays from 6:30- 9:30. The classes focus on reading and writing skills for intermediate level students.

THSC also host a tutoring program the matches English speakers with community members in need of additional help in the English language. We have a specific interest in helping our students pass the citizenship test and learning day to day conversation. Meeting times are:
Monday: 7-8 PM
Wednesday: 1-2 PM
