Confidential community tip-line enables citizens to report criminal activity by phone Vancouver, WA — The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has established a telephone tip-line that citizens may use to report criminal or suspicious activities. The tip-line was conceived as a tool to help the Sheriff’s Office respond to community safety and security concerns. The number is 1-877-CRIMEII or 1-877-274-6311 and can be used locally or out-of-state. Calls made from pay phones are toll-free. The tip-line is intended for non-emergency situations that do not require immediate response by a deputy. For situations where a deputy is required, callers should continue to dial 911.
By ensuring the confidentiality of callers, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to encourage
appropriate use of the tip-line among residents who might otherwise hesitate to report an incident. ‘Not everyone feels safe reporting criminal or suspicious activities,” said Deputy Tim Hockett. ‘Callers may remain anonymous it they choose. To help the Sheriff’s Office with follow-up investigations, citizens are encouraged to provide as much information as possible. Examples of useful information include the date of the incident, type of activity or crime, location of the activity or
incident, names of individuals involved, type of vehicle, and license plate number if available. For more information on the tip-line, contact Detective Tim Hockett, Clark County
Sheriff’s Office at (360) 397-22 1 1 ext. 3328.
