I read in the Citizen today that the City is going to cut back on the graffite removal program. They had ten contracted vehicles hankling the removal process, now will not renew contract with current organization, that was using prisoners for removal. Will now contract out with various contractors on a case by case basis. This will make the time to removal more than twice as long and according to the paper will cost in tax monies more than three times the current amount to pay for these services. Seem to me that as the City grows and gets more monies from taxes, the citizens are getting less and less services. Such as when we started to pay $14 dollars a month for trash pick up the city cut the pick up back from twice to once a week. Seems like if we are paying a $168.00 per year per home and we are growing at a rate of 30 homes a seek, and the money is supposed to stay with trash picking up the city would go back to picking up trash twice a week. In my neighborhood we have a blue can for recycled material at which the city says we are doing a great job at sorting out from the trash, and we have the containers in the alley ways that are shared by four houses. Now it is a proven fact that a family of four will generate more trash than that. Our neighborhood brought that up with the city trash collector leaders and they said we could opt for little trash containers on wheels with the same capacity as the small blue recycle containers. But they took the large containers in the alleys away. Well I got them put back but we still need and the city can afford to pick up twice a week as they had been for the last 55 years. Just a thought, we keep paying more taxes and the poulation keeps rising and we keep getting less services for all this money. Where is it going? Can anyone answer me? The city Fathers cannot.
