The United Way of Monroe County is the nonprofit, fundraising umbrella for 22 human service agencies in the Florida Keys. Without the support of the United Way, many of these organizations would have to cut back on the services they provide - or close altogether. The agencies run the gamet of services found in the Keys. They help teach people how to read, match kids from single parent homes with adult mentors, give clothing and shelter to people who have been burned out of their homes, provide subsidized day care, give at-risk kids a place to hang out, help the homeless and much more.
