I have seen personal golf carts being used in the neighborhood. What are the laws/rules/etiquette for this? Could I drive my Golf Cart down to Forrest Hills deli or to CJ's? (If I got one)Would I have to add head lights, brake lights, turn signals and/or seat belt? I have been reading Florida's Department of Transpertaion site and they give you guidelines and ways to make it a low speed vehicle but then they say the final yes/no decision comes from you local municipality. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, how does the golf course feel about this?

Hi Michael
I will check with the Tampa Police Department and get an answer to you.

golf carts
Hi Michael
The definitive answer to your question is golf carts are absolutely not allowed on city streets. A golf cart is not a licensed vehicle for travel on road ways. There is only one location in Hillsborough County where golf carts are allowed on the streets and that is Sun City Center.

Low speed Vehicle
I have been reading and calling the DMV. THe first lady I talked to was short with me and told me that I can not turn my Golf cart into a Low speed vehicle(lsv). I then gave her the link on their website and she started being nice to me. Anyways, here is the link. http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us//intranet/DMV/Bulletins/TA_T05-14.htm
With in the article their is another link on the processes and forms you need. They make you jump through a lot of hoops but I think I can do it. It wont be anytime soon b/c I have to buy parts and install them. Thanks for you help.
