CARING ABOUT THE FRENCH QUARTER FOR OVER 75 YEARS...
The Vieux Carre Property Owners, Residents and Associates - called VCPORA [Vee-See-Pora] for short, was organized in the 1920's and incorporated in 1938.
It sponsored and lobbied for the 1936 Louisiana State Constitutional Ammendment that first defined the French Quarter as historically worth preserving and empowered the City of New Orleans to create a protective regulatory body which resulted in the Vieux Carre Commission.
Since then it has been at the heart of every battle to portect the Quarter - and there have been many.
