Villa De Palmas is located in Central Merritt Island, near shopping, restaurants and Brevard County government buildings, and is sandwiched between State Road 3, and Sykes Creek and the Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge. Entry to Villa De Palmas is just south of 528 on State Road 3. It was originally developed in the mid 1960's in the prime of the Kennedy Space Center and era of American space travel. The community is comprised of 293 single family homes that average about 2000 sq ft, with more than 50% on waterfront property. The neighborhood is a quite recreational boating and fishing community. Boating access to the Indian River and the Banna River is achieved via the Barge canal that connects the two rivers and provides deep water boat access to the rivers as well as Port Canaveral. It is the northern most, single family home community on Sykes Creek. The closest boat ramp is Kelly Park on Bannana River drive.
