By 2006, the Central City corridor will have a light rail transit system, as approved by voters. Planning for the system has already begun, with public meetings held at various locations to solicit citizen input. Important decisions regarding station locations and street alignments will be made by the end of 2000/early 2001.
Chris-Town area residents need to become informed about the proposed rail system, since the decisions made could have an impact on traffic, neighborhoods, and safety. Transit planners are actively seeking comments from residents, particularly in areas near the proposed alignments. For example, both 15th and 19th Avenues are being considered as light rail routes at this time. Residents need to let planners know which route is preferred.
