It is time for the San Fernando Valley to have its own school districts separate from the L.A.U.S.D.

We need to increase accessibility, accountability, and manageability in order to deliver excellent public education to all students.

In the mammoth L.A.U.S.D., students are often simply numbers to be shuffled by a variety of departments, for any variety of reasons, any number of times.

By having more localized school districts, the boards and administrations will be within close proximity to their immediate service areas and there is more opportunity for community support, parental involvement,

and activism.

The current district of over 650,000 students continues to envelop itself in bureaucratic preoccupation with money, business, structure, and failed reorganization schemes rather than providing education for the children.

At the present time, L.A.U.S.D does not offer the benefits of geographical compactness and it takes hours to travel within its borders. This presents circumstances that are counterproductive to success for a school district.

And most importantly, L.A.U.S.D. has failed to educate our children and we can not allow this to continue!

If you do write a letter to the

State on this issue, please send a copy to FREE, POBox 33333, Granada Hills, 91394.

This address is confused in the pasted issue I just sent out.

I cannot possibly emphasize the importance of action on this issue whether you are pro or con. I happen to be for achieving something the SFValley - our own school district. The people in Burbank have their own school district and are able to speak to issues at public meetings or with their principles and school board. So it isn't unreasonable.
