This morning at approximately 9:25, I was walking toward my back door to lock the second lock when I looked up and a young woman was standing at my back door. I hesitated because I was shocked to see someone at my back door; my back yard is fully fenced as are the neighbors on either side of me. She raised her hand as if to knock so I walked closer to the door and looked around my patio to see if there was anyone else with her before opening the door. She said that she was staying at her brother's next door. She said she saw some people in their back yard and wondered if that was unusual. I told her yes that it was highly unusual. I went on to relate that her brother's house had an attempted break-in several months ago so we are all keeping an eye out for each other. Later this morning this same neighbor called me to ask me to check their garage door - they have been having trouble with the opener and couldn't remember if she had checked to make sure it went down when she left this morning. I told her it was down and went on to relate how I met her husband's sister. She said it could not have been his sister as she lives in Hilton Head and all the rest of his family was staying up at Lake Erie for the week and weekend! This young woman was tiny and petite, very sweet looking and clean cut - sort of the All American look with dark hair and brown eyes. I can only assume at this point, that she was casing either my house or my neighbors. However, my dogs greeted her with a lot of barking so I feel confident that between my dogs and the fact that I was home, my house was crossed off the list. But please keep an eye out for this young woman or any behavior similar to this. It is a traditional vacation week for people so a great time to hit homes that look as if no one is home. This took place on the southern end of Carifa Dr. in Westwind.
