One of our goals as an association is crime prevention. Over the past few years crime has declined significantly, due in part to a strong working relationship between WOHNA and the Dekalb Police South Precinct. We continute to keep an eye on crime, and want to offer neighbors a few basic things to keep in mind.
If you see or hear a crime happening, no matter how small, call 911 and report it. Each complaint is logged, and those logs are used to allocate resources and money.
Keep in mind that if you do give your name and are willing to meet with an officer, your call will be placed with a much higher priority. You do not have to meet with an officer at your home. You can ask the operator to have the officer meet you in another location so that you will remain anonymous to those involved in the incident.
Write it down. If you see suspected drug activity, get as much information as possible. The street address of the house involved, the license plate numbers of the cars involved, description of people involved. Call 911 or get the info to an officer of White Oak Hills Neighborhood Association.
