Wildwood Homeowners Association

FROM THE WILDWOOD HOMEOWNERS PRESIDENT JULY 2001

Aug 23, 2001

FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Well, we have now reached the middle of 2001. I hope thus far your year has been filled with as much joy as mine. Following are some updates on things that are going on in and around Wildwood:

?¾ Construction on S. Polk thru to Parkerville Road is moving along very swiftly. This construction is tied to the DeSoto Ranch Project that will bring over 200 new homes to the area. Also there will be lights installed in the center medium, additional sidewalks and shrubs.
?¾ S. Polk Street concerns. The Wildwood Addition and Oakmont Homeowners?’ Associations have teamed to present to the City of DeSoto some of the concerns for when the S. Polk Street is opened to Parkerville Road. Some of them are: (1) Traffic that will be topping the hill between Raintree Lane (Wildwood Side) and Beechwood (Oakmont Side). (2) Children crossing S. Polk St to catch the School Bus with the increased traffic. (3) Volume of traffic and the likely hood of speeding. Also the visibility problems when trying to enter S. Polk Street.
?¾ Also there is construction on a New Detention Pond to the rear of Windy Meadow Drive (alleyway). This pond will be used to collect flood water from the Oakmont Neighborhood, the New DeSoto Ranch Neighborhood and drain water that has been collecting at the intersection of S. Polk and Windy Meadow Drive. This will correct a serious drainage problem that has existed since the development of the Wildwood Addition and Oakmont Neighborhoods. As explained to me by Jack Tate, Vice President - Development, this pond will normally be dry but during heavy rains this pond will collect the excess rainwater and gradually release it into the main drainage system. The main ideas here is to prevent and I repeat prevent flooding.
?¾ Ponds(active) on the property that is adjacent to Wildwood. There is a possibility that these ponds will be donated to the city to be used as part of the Hike and Bike trail. I will keep you updated. This is still under consideration.
?¾ Wildwood Entryway Project. Plans have been developed and potential developers have submitted cost for constructing the pavestone flowerbeds at the four-entryway points. The main restraint is funds to complete the project. The association plans are to pay for this with annual membership dues. All homeowners in Wildwood have a stack in this project and we can make it a success by paying our annual homeowner?’s membership dues. The benefits for our neighborhood are tremendous. Take Pride in Your Neighborhood and Contribute to this Project!!!!!!!! If you haven?’t already - Please Pay your 2001 Membership Dues this is for a very worthy cause.

Currently there are many new home developments under construction in DeSoto. There is the I35 construction that is ongoing and also others, such as Hampton Road. We do not want Wildwood to be left behind or thought of as something of the past by letting our neighborhood and property deteriorate.
Let?’s take care of our property, respect the property of others and teach our children to do the same. This will take us along way in keeping Wildwood a wonderful place to live for now and the future!!!!

Thanks,

Wayne Valentine
