Playing Tag Just Isn't the Same

Posted in: Wyandotte
Playing tag just isn't the same as when we were kids.

I'm not sure which is stupider. The tag-a-bag program or the continued debate year after year after year and so on.

Limiting the amount of trash you can dispose of weekly is a good idea. Especially if it means saving money. But why can't we do that without a tag?

It just doesn't make sense to me that I'm attaching this tag to my trash only to throw it away. What a waste!

It has to cost the city money to print and distribute the 'free' tags. The paper, the print, and the postage to mail these tags twice a year to every single residence. I don't imagine someone is doing this free. Someone is being paid for their time that it takes to print, sort, package and get them to the post office. Being paid from the city.

One of the biggest complaints I hear from everyone is getting the tag on their trash on trash day.

Why not allow each residence one trash can per week?....no tags! Take the money the city would save by not printing and distributing the current free tag and allow a second trash can without a tag. That would allow each residence 2 trash cans with no hassles of getting the tags on. Continue with the twice a year no limits on how much trash you can dispose. If a resident has more than the 2 allowed cans they can purchase a tag then. But since we're getting 2 tags a week right now, why not eliminate the tags all together. The savings from not printing and distributing 2 tags would allow each residence 3 cans.

Is there nothing simple about that?
It Not Making Sense......

makes CENTS in this city.

And now a word from RP.
lets play kick the tag

i deplore this tag program, but the city found that they can make a few extra bucks of us so they dont want to give up a good thing. some will say its such a good idea and cost saving to. well if its such a good idea as far as i,m aware of wyandotte is the only city in mi to have such a program. with the trash cost at landfills at its lowest ever and taking all the trash from canada and some from surrounding states i feel the bottom line is as i said, its not a enviroment issue, its a $$ making issue dittos

Uniform trash cans

were discussed at several council meetings as I recall. As ususal it has been tabled. There seems to be no middle ground on this subject. I personally hate this tag program for several reasons; I believe it is an added tax as do many other people. I would welcome the trash can idea, eliminating the flourescent green tag (which couldn't be helpful to the environment). Just because it is a current program doesn't mean it cannot be amended or altered.
