“Of Trains N’ Things,” a musical comedy, takes place
during the depression, about 1936, when the main mode
of transportation from city to city was trains. The show
opens in a Hobo Camp with many of the Hobos warming
themselves before their campfire. While down and out,
they demonstrate hope that has not been banished.
As Morning begins, the scene takes us from the Hobos
who rode the rails, to the average passengers in a busy
train station and what befalls them. We hear music with
railroad journey themes and the renowned Rockerettes
make their appearance. We also meet such characters
as Murgatroid Fishfoot, Sylvester Burkwrinkle, Hortense
Headtogether, The Cake Lady, and Georgia Girl.
The Second Act is a victorious political victory party in a
posh hotel because Senator Phil A Buster has won his
election after a grueling train-riding, caboose-speaking
campaign. Here you see the extreme elite of society at
their funniest. The ritzy well-to-do are enjoying life and
you will hear no sad songs here! Life is great, and wouldn’t
you know it, the Rockerettes join in the celebration! We
meet such characters as Miss Hoi Polloi, Notta Cloo,
Carrie A Tune, Mrs. I Noah Tall and Mrs. Loan Lee.
Shirley Hawkes is our very accomplished pianist,
our rhythmic drummer, Charlie Wetzelberger,
and our talented guitarist, Bob Cogen.
Our Producer is Richard Ray and the Young Hearts
participants in the Cast are all over 60 years of age.
Our troupe, started 46 years ago by former International
Adagio Dancer and WHAS Performer, Eloise Terry,
has been entertaining for free those 46 years. Don’t miss
this zany, fun-filled entertaining musical comedy. We
hope you will keep these performances in mind when
planning your upcoming activities.
Young Hearts Theatre is a non-profit Kentucky
Corporation, and IRS designated 501(c)(3) charitable

however, to help defray the production costs,
