The Zetas of Charlotte Benevolent Foundation is a 501c(3) organization established to foster the ideals of service, scholarship, and unity among mankind.
We are committed to implementing cultural, educational, and civic activities to more adequately address the mental, physical, and spiritual needs of the Greater Charlotte community. It is this mission that drives us to tirelessly share our time, compassion, and expertise with those in need and to form collaborative partnerships with other agencies and civic-minded organizations to uplift humanity.
?“Ye shall know them by their fruits?”
Since 1934, the Delta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has developed and implemented various programs, some through key community partnerships, to improve the human condition among our target populations. As members of the Blue & White family, we understand that service to the community is our greatest and most important legacy. In addition to supporting the education of our young through scholarships and auxiliary groups, serving the elderly and partnering with HIV advocacy organizations, here are some of our current national and local Signature Community Service Programs:
Z-HOPE: Zetas Helping Other People Excel
Launched in 2003 by our International Grand Basileus Barbara C. Moore, Z-HOPE, is a national outreach service initiative designed to enhance, cultivate and empower the African-American community and persons of color to develop health promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Z-HOPE focuses its efforts within five major populations: women, youth, seniors, men and international women and is designed to address the whole person via a holistic framework that focuses on the three key elements of life: mind, body, and spirit.
Baby Z Program
Since 1972, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has enjoyed a partnership with the March of Dimes in an effort to encourage women to seek prenatal care within the first trimester of pregnancy in to decrease birth defects and infant mortality.
We proudly honored the more than 30-year national partnership between our Sorority and the March of Dimes by creatively raising over $1100.00 in 2003 and educating the community about prematurity through our innovative Baby Z Program. Through the Baby Z program we help the March of Dimes with it's main mission: to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Moreover, we regularly participate in the annual March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon.
A Child's Place Program
A cooperative local program between Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Delta Zeta Chapter) and A Child's Place, has aided the homeless children and their families in the program. Our chapter has supported the following initiatives to strengthen the program:
*Conduct a Toiletry Drive--items are collected by the chapter to be donated to the deserving children and families in the program
*Donate School Supplies--writing utensils, notebooks, book bags, and other necessary school supplies are donated in January, a time when the supplies from the previous year have begun to suffer from wear and tear
*Sponsor Family Enrichment Programs--we conduct monthly activities with the children which are designed to educate, uplift, and empower participants
*Deliver Healthy Snacks--a basket of healthy snacks are delivered to the program each month to encourage improved nutritional choices for the children between meals
Zeta Hug Program
Through the Zeta Hug Program we provide holiday meals, gifts, cheer and most importantly, peace of mind during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. This unique program aims to support families and senior citizens who have suffered a recent trauma or hardship yet do not qualify for financial assistance through government agencies or programs.
Bowling for Babies
One of our most recently added signature programs, Bowling for Babies, is a program that allows all members of the community to enjoy a fun game of bowling, while still raising funds for the March of Dimes. It is an appropriate activity for all individuals of all ages!
