Whitley Park Condominium Association is a 10-story high-rise building that was converted from a hotel to luxury condominiums in a beautiful neighborhood in Bethesda, MD.
They are elegant, luxurious homes that share a multitude of amenities which include year round tennis, beautiful swimming pool and a friendly door person. It is also just a short drive to Washington, DC from Whitley Park.

Their community amenities include a clubhouse, free-form pool, nature trails and sidewalks throughout. Landscaping is professionally maintained and they claim an active social life!

Woodbury Improvement Association is a beautifully maintained community just outside the city limits of Boca Raton, in southernmost Palm Beach County, Florida.
Woodbury is a part of an umbrella organization of about 90 homeowners' groups that totals about 10,000 units and about 30,000 people. If it was incorporated, it would be one of the largest cities in Palm Beach County.

Little Blacktail Ranch in Careywood, Idaho is a small community of 61 homeowners nestled in the trees on the gentle slope of Little Blacktail Mountain in Northern Idaho.
Their homesites are between 5 and 20 acres of beautiful Idaho forest that hosts numerous wild turkeys, quail, and deer and an occasional moose or bear.

BWCA was originally created in 1988 as a blockwatch group. There are currently 325 homes in their organization and although dues are not mandatory, over 65% of homeowners are dues paying members.

They have created 7 different ads for their various clients and in the process they have created a profit center with their website!

The natural beauty of White Rock Lake is within walking distance! So, there is easy access to all the lake has to offer including: picnic areas, jogging and bike paths, the Bath House Cultural Arts Center, and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
Just fifteen minutes from downtown Dallas, there are also many restaurants, and wonderful antique and specialty stores nearby. Little Forest Hills is also conveniently located near two of Dallas's oldest shopping centers -- Casa Linda and Lakewood.

In addition, buildings were being neglected and abandoned, and some landlords began forcing people out of their homes. The deteriorating environment led to the creation of the block association.
The Block Association serves to organize and coordinate activities for the improvement of their community, encourage involvement in beautification efforts, act as a liaison between residents and city government and disseminate information.
Among their ongoing projects is the maintenance of May Mathews Playground, sanitation and safety issues, and a booth at the 9th Avenue International Food Festival.

Sellwood-Moreland is located three miles "up-river" from downtown Portland, and the history of the neighborhood stretches back to the late 1840's, before Oregon was a state, when the area was part of four donation land claims.
One of those first claimants, Henderson Luelling, brought nursery stock with him via the Oregon Trail, and established the first commercial fruit nursery in what was then simply the Oregon Country.
The neighborhood had no name until 1882, when 321 acres were purchased and subdivided for house lots by the Sellwood Real Estate Company.
The independent City of Sellwood, named after early civic leader Reverend Sellwood, was incorporated in 1887, and had its own city council and sheriff until 1893, when it became a part of the growing City of Portland.

The Camelot Neighborhood Association is a group of people who truly care about the neighborhood where they live.
CNA was formed in 1980 as the Camelot Homeowners Association. The Association’s name was changed to Camelot Neighborhood Association in April 1992, to encourage both homeowners and renters to join and become involved.
One of the first issues with which the Association was confronted was the lack of personnel to man the ambulance parked at the fire station that served and still serves this neighborhood (Station #6, located on Holford Road). The situation was discussed with City staff, and I believe that personnel was provided for the ambulance in the next budget year.
A later issue involved electric rates being paid by Camelot residents served by what was then Texas Utilities (TU Electric). At the conclusion of a presentation he was making concerning the reduction of electric bills, a TU representative pointed out that Camelot residents were paying Garland Power & Light (GP&L) rates, which were considerably higher than TU rates. It was learned that the paying of GP&L rates by Garland residents served by TU was the result of a state sanctioned agreement reached many years earlier between the City of Garland and TU. Getting state approval to permit those residents to pay TU rates turned out to be a many-month process. Then Garland Mayor Ruth Nicholson worked long and hard to bring about that approval.

Featured Community: Lake Eola Heights, Orlando, FL

In the 80's, private restoration of buildings had already begun and the "turn around" was under way. The City designated the neighborhood as The Lake Eola Heights Historic District in 1989. With input from the residents, this ordinance was instrumental in identifying and protecting the homes and buildings.
The City and State provided and continues to offer several programs and incentives to encourage preservation and restoration of homes and buildings, (ad valorum tax deferral). In 1991, Lake Eola Heights became the first residential historic district in Orlando to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood was also the recipient of the 1998 Florida Trust Neighborhood Award.
LEHHNA continues to be pro-active in the support of preservation and compatible new development.
In addition, LEHHNA works aggressively with The City on traffic abatement and was the first Orlando neighborhood to install roundabouts.

Featured Community: Country Club Historic, Denver, CO

Country Club Historic Neighborhood was originally developed in conjunction with the Denver Country Club and was designated as a Historic Landmark District in 1990.
Their Neighborhood Association was created in 1970 and although membership is voluntary, each year over 300 (of the total 375) homeowners join their association. Their board of directors consists of 21 volunteers from the neighborhood.
Because CCHN is in a landmark historic district, there are strict covenants concerning building and renovation.
Using Neighborhood Link tools, Country Club Historic residents have:
- Helped enforce strict historic landmark provisions.
- Disseminated information about ongoing development projects affecting their neighborhood.
- Raised over $130,000 to create new urns at various entrance points to their neighborhood for traffic mitigation and beautification.
- Broadcast timely crime alerts to neighbors.
- Organized an email alert system for regular updates.

They recently created a separate page so that Neighbors could report violations of city code. The Mesa City manager in turn has pledged to monitor the site and investigate all of the reported code violations.
