Originally from Tulsa and lived in Oklahoma until 2001 when I retired from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services where I worked at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, OK for twenty-five years. I took a teaching job which brought me to Georgia, met my husband and we married, moving to Lakeland in 2006. I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts (BFA) in Art Education with minors in English, Family and Consumer Science and Social Studies from the University of Oklahoma. I taught at Lanier County High School from 2006-2012 and am now with Irwin County High School in Ocilla. The Lanier County Advocate publishes a weekly column that I write about Georgia and Lanier County when at all possible. It features history information - past or present. Currently, I serve on the Miller-Lakeland Library Board of Trustees and am, also, a MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) volunteer in South Georgia.
