In 1987 my husband, Jerry and I were trying to decide where we would eventually live upon retirement. After seeing Americana Village, we decided to rent a home for one year to be sure this is where we wanted to spend our retirement years. Before the year was over we decided to buy a lot and ordered our home. We loved the Village, felt very secure and safe, but unfortunately Hurricane Andrew changed that for many people. I have seen the village decline over the years and I can certainly blame Hurricane Andrew on a great deal but the responsibility for our community rests with each of us individually. Life has a way of "slapping us up the side of the head" and yelling, "PAY ATTENTION!" I have not met our new manager but certainly have no problem with the enforcement of the rules and regulations. Life also throws us a few curves every so often that we're not prepared for. I wasn't preprared to deal with the death of my husband, two hurricanes and illness of my own, all within a 12 month period. I fell behind in my condo fees, and now I'm dealing with the lawyer. This is by no means the fault of management, it's just the way life is. I work very hard to make extra money to get caught up and hopefully one day soon I will be. So, residents, embrace the new management and maybe we'll have the old Americana Village once again.
