FYI:  For the past three days, several young adults have knocked on my door at various times of the day claiming to be employed by at&t.  They had no permit to solicit and informed me that they did not need one. They travel in groups of 3 or 4 usually with one female and the others male.  I have seen them on the other streets in Bellemeade and in Hurstbourne as well.  The thought has crossed my mind that this continual observation would be a good way to collect information about who is home and who is not.

They are "Con tract Workers" for AT&T which just installed fiber optic cables to provide TV and high speed inter net service. The work on commission.

It is always a good idea to check ID's for anyone coming to your door to solicit.

Check for what?  I saw their ID and there are high school students in my computer labs that can create ID's that look more authentic than those did.  Besides, the ID was deceptive.  It gave the apppearance that they were at&t emplyees which they are not.

MetroCall told me this morning that a license to solicit is required to sell or offer to sell goods or services in a residential area. When I asked these "contract workers" for proof of such a license, they told me they were at&t and didn't need one.

If we in Bellemeade are truly serious abour such things as crime prevention and Neighborhood Watch, we need to not put up with people who are in our neighborhood doing anything illegal - PERIOD.

As an FYI; I have complained directly to at&t and Metro.
