I am all for the humps. While they may be a neusance they keep my children and family protected from speeders. I think they are wonderful and people who protest them prob. dont have young children to worry about. Thanks for installing them!

Oh, those little speed humps are surely a bit of an aggravation, but not nearly as much as the selfish, non-caring, reckless drivers who speed up and down our streets jeopardizing the safety and well-being of the people, especially those who live on Bellemeade Road and North Chadwick Road, and even more especially the lives of our children. I, for one, am willing to slow down to drive over a speed hump sanely, because I know what it was like before the speed humps. Thanks for the speed humps - we need another one on the southern end of North Chadwick - please.. As I walk in the neighborhood, I see a lot of speeding on Dorchester too. By the way Dorchester, not only do you not have speed humps, you don't have anybody participating in Neighborhood Watch in the 100 block????? |

I am not trying to be argumentative - but I do have young children. They are very precious to me. I drove very slowly through the neighborhood before the speed bumps. |

A lot of people did drive very cautiously before the speed humps, but I can personally attest to THE FACT that many, many people did not because I have seen them do it. I saw the LMPD officer write citations for speeding in excess of 35 miles per hour over the limit before the speed humps
I walk about 3 miles a day in Bellemeade and have a very good understanding of why we need the speed humps. I am totally amazed at the Bellemeade residents who abuse the speed limit.
Both Bellemeade Road and North Chadwick Roads are cut-through routes from Whipps Mill and Shelbyville Road. Thus, the people who are cutting through used those two roads with reckless abandon; they do not live here. They do not have the same stake in the community as you and I and other Bellemeade residents have. VERY SIMPLY< THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT THEIR OWN PERSONAL NEEDS>
I have seen people blow through that stop sign at Charing Cross and Bellemeade at 50 - 60 miles per hour. I have witnessed drivers carelessly blasting down North Chadwick in excess of 60 in front of my house. Given that I am THANKFUL for the speed humps. Take it to the limit might be ok in an Eagles' song, but not on a residential street.
I lost a son to a traffic accident. I can handle a little inconvenience of slowing down for speed humps to possibly prevent some other family from experiencing that tragedy and I have very little respect for those who don't, even at Christmas. And .... I really do not understand why any right-thinking person would object to a feature designed to make residents safe on their own streets. ?????????????????????
Which is more convenient; slowing down for a speed hump or burying a child? |
