Neighbors,
This website can be a valuable resource for those that utilize it. Unfortunately, it seems that many residents are using it to attack others in some form or fashion.
While I agree that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, please voice your opinions and provide input in a manner that will benefit all that view this site.
I personally review this site on a regular basis for information regarding safety and other items of interest. Many times it is difficult to find key information due to the constant bickering that occurs between several of the regular users.
My observations regarding usage of this site:
-those that provide useful information regarding safety and other key items...THANK YOU
-those that criticize spelling should quality review their own entries
-those that continually criticize the actions of the Mayor should consider running for office in the future or convince another interested party to run
-those that want to provide valuable input or feedback should attend the monthly committee meeting (if enough residents attend, a larger venue should be considered)
-those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
My comment to you Mr. Mayor.... I appreciate your visibility within the neighborhood on a daily basis and that you continue to serve our community (albeit your actions will never please everyone).
Your observations? Observations or directions? Sounds like you are giving directions on what and how to post on this site. According to your profile, you registered on this site today, but you say you often read it to find important information. Why is it that you are just now registering to chastize us? You missed numerous opportunities to lecture us on the proper and appropriate use of this site many months ago when our mayor was under fire for several reasons by more than a few people. This site is for citizens to post and discuss things that concern them. The expenditure of our tax money is a legitimate concern; the only way to know that is if the City Commission and the Mayor inform us. If they do NOT do that, I have a right to complain.
You say you look at this site to find important information. I bet you found the posting of the PROPOSED 2011-12 BUDGET, didn't you? It was NOT on this site until several of us posted a host of what you call negative items calling for the posting. What we did was a benefit to those who wnated to see the proposed budget.
We do not want to have to come to a meeting to be able to have what we say heard. We have problems every day some need airing more often than once a month. That trite "come to the meetings if you want to be involved" is PURE BULL! I am involved because I live here and I do not have come to a meeting to validate my citrizenship.
I don't live in a glass house either. You have a right to state your opinion, but you do NOT have a right to lecture me on the use of this site.
And you certainly are way short of convincing me that Larry is doing a good job. He is a minister; he knew full well that people who assume positions of authority are subject to criticism, sometimes harsh criticism. He took the job willing; nobody forced him to be mayor. We just want him to lead. He is probably a very good man, but so far he has not been a good mayor. His bickering against our requests for publication of the proposed budget is just one example of NOT doing a good job or putting a "happy face"on our community.
And as a final note, your critical comment about spelling and grammar should find a home in your writing too. Glass house, maybe?
