City of Bellemeade

Website Utilization

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

I would be more than happy to discuss any issues with you in person versus through a faceless webpage.  My involvement as a Bellemeade resident has helped people in many ways.  As far as registering today, it's really a non-issue because a person does not have to register in order to view the discussion board.  Have a great day "Rebel".

Thank you for your service to Bellemeade.

Neither of us has a vote on the City Commission (or at least I don't and I certainly don't have any "pull" with them), so I fail to see the benefit in a face-to-face discussion between us.  On the contrary, what you or I write on here reaches a lot of people who might want to hear both sides of an issue.

I still say you missed a ton of opportunites to praise the mayor by not registering until today.

I also thank you for your service to Bellemeade. however ..........

Some people just express themselves much better in writing; some, verbally; some, neither; and some never shy away from either type.  Apparently some of the citizens have chosen to voice their opinion solely on this site maybe because that is how they can present the best.  You, I, nor anyone else has a right to censor, edit, or stop them from doing that as long as what they write is within the framework of the law.

I don't know who you are, but I am somewhat surprised that a citizen claiming to be as civically minded as you have said you are would take people to task for speaking out on an issue.  It would be ok for you to disagree with what they (I) say, but it is not ok for you to tell them (me) that we can not criticise the mayor, that we can not use the website to post comments that you consider negative (that is a subjective observation on your part), that we are hurting Bellmeade (that is also a subjective observation on your part), that we have to accept things as they are when they could be done appreciably better, that we have to settle for anything that is not in our best intersts, that we can not ask for more law enforcement,  that we can not question spending tax money on private property, that we can not ask for action to control speeders, and that we were wrong in wanting to have the proposed budget posted.

Would you like to discuss any of that in person with me?

To all that have responded to my posting...

My message was not to criticize or censor your comments or requests of the Mayor, Commissioners, or anyone else for that matter.  All of the requests that I have seen have been valid, and we as residents are entitled to the information.  The point that I am trying to get across is that there are ways to request infomation as well as to follow-up on requests aside from some of the behaviors displayed.  We can have discussion as well as debates regarding the issues, but I personally wish that they would be more constructive without the level of sarcasm.  It is a distinct possibility that there would be more input from our residents via the website if they are not personally attacked as soon as something is posted.

I am all for doing things to benefit our neighborhood and hope that as a team, we can change things for the better.
