I have some questions - I apologize if they are not directly related to this particular post.  I am just confused about some things I have read and replied to this particular post so that I was not creating a new one.

I am one of the NW Area Captains.  I will respond only to the qustions which I am 100% sure I know the correct answer.  Thank you for asking these questions; they are excellent questions and help us see more things that we need to accomplish to make NW a true Neighborhood Watch.

Is Mooregate part of Bellemeade?  Is our Mayor responsible for this whole section or are they separate?  Moorgate (spelled without the "e" between the "r" and "g") is part of Bellemeade

What are the five areas of NW?  They are having meetings?  How many households are involved?  If you will provide an email address, I will see that you get ainformation answering the first two questions.  As of yesterday, we have confirmed that 273 houses in Mellemeade are involved.  This information has been confirmed by Area Captains, Block Captains, and Alternate Block Captains through a combination of emails, phone calls, knocks on doors, and distribution and completion of questiomaire flyers.  This block by block, house by house survey is to be completed by January 17, 2012.  No one in the  200 block of Holliswood or Whipps Bend  has volunteered to be Block Captain, two of the AREA CAPTAINS have taken reponsibility to get those two blocks onvolved.

What were the alerts?  Is this an email thing, a phone call, a knock on the door?  How were they successful?  The alerts that went out informed residents about car break ins and other criminal/suspicous activity that have taken place.  One of the purposes of the current survey is to determine what else needs to be one to insure that residents who want to know do actually receive accurate warnings on a timely basisIf you want to receive alerys and have not, please let me know.  We know they are successful to a degree by the large number of "thank you's" that the Leadership Group has been receiving, but we need to get more people involved .  Are you involved?

What are the signs for?  Criminals like to work in places where they think nobody will know them and what they are doing.  The signs will tell the bad guys that we have a neighborhood of neighbors helping neighbors, that we are waching. that we shall call the police (911) without hesitation when we see something wrong.

What was wrong with the neighborhood watch that was already in place? I do understand that  by not participating in email alerts by choice may make me uninvolved, but I was thinking there must be more than emails to this.  It is commented on this site that most people in this neighborhood do not have computers?  Wrong?  Even though there had been suspicous and actual crimnal activity between March and November in out area, the NW that was supposed to be alerting the neighborhood  was not consistently alerting the neighborhood and individuals did not know how to report such activity so alerts could be started.  The person in the position of Neighborhood Captain is a good man but he simply did not have the time or knowledge needed for the job (It is a non-paid job; it is a BIG JOB.)  Seven residents, now desigated as "Bellemeade Neighborhood Watch Area Captains" have accepted the responsibility of leading the NW.  These seven ladies and gentlemen are working directly with the Block Captains and Alternates to build on the work that has already been done.  The goal is to have an on-going Neighborhood Watch wherein the residents first of all know what, when, where, why, and how to start the process so that ideally everyone in Bellemeade gets timely, useful information; and, to make NW visible enough to alert criminals that they would be better off going elsewhere. The Area and Block Captains need your help.

I am interested in knowing what measures are in place now that were not in place before. Way too many to list here.  Give me a way to contact you and I'll see that you get the information we have.

 Thank you for your interest.

I apologize for the numerous typos in the above post.  Sometimes I hit the "y" instead of the "t" and I do not know how I managed to put the "a" in front of information or The "M" where the "B" should have been in Bellemeade.  Sorry.  Was just too early I suppose; and yeah, I know, should have used SpellCheck.  My heart was in the reply even if my fingers weren't.

I wish we knew who you were so we could address your questions in person and notify your Watch Captain. Can you tell us your street name?

I have asked the mayor to address this issue with the City Council in hopes that they will decide to cancel our order with METRO Louisviklle and have our own signs made. He has agreed to do this. So please contact your council-people to solicit their votes in this endeavor.
