The building inspector
at least had the commmon sense to keep his mouth closed.
Koko has a dry cleaning business. What does he know about engineering and whether or not both buildings should have come down together, or separately.
I forgot - as Chairman of the BOS, he knows all and sees all. Koko - do you know what I think about your performance?

Quirk's Fault
I see the fatal accident at Quirk's yard as squarely Quirk's fault.
If he did not get approval from Braintree then he should not have torn down that structure. Period.
Quirk was acting in purely self interest and disregarding the rulings of the planning board and recklessly went ahead and tore down 1/2 of that superstructure leaving a structurely unsound dangerous structure behind.
To the extent that he did tear 1/2 of it down, it was incumbent upon him to secure the other half. If structurely he could not then he should have left it alone until he had the backing of both towns.
I don't see where Braintree incurs any liability for the selfish reckless actions of Quirk ? Braintree had it reasons for denying a permit and it was Quirk's responsibility to use the appeals process to get an appeal in his favor.
I don't care if his business would suffer. I'm sure that families are hurting now.
What if you or I proceeded with a building project without the necessary permits ? I suppose if my name was Quirk, then it would not matter.

Useless people
Did anyone say anything before the accident? Funny when bad things happen, people then decide come out and say something like 'Oh, I saw that coming' or 'Duh, I knew that was a safety issue'.

Too bad
Its just that kind of thinking that gets this town in trouble.Just because you announce that its not out fault
doesn't make it so. Now stop and think do you really think our town fathers really care if Quirk tore down that eyesore. Do you think even less that our town fathers care if there are a few extra trucks on Hayward st that they know that according to state law they cannot do anything about. No our town fathers have other motives that maybe might be comming out soon. Because of that accident lawyers will soon be carving out a good chunck of change out of all our pockets.
