Quirk's Fault

No I did not see that accident coming.
In fact, I was amused to see it come down on TV replay.

But...I am NOT an engineer.
Quirk had to have had all the necessary permits in place to tear down 1/2 of it.

Additionally, he must have had demolition and structural engineers on retainer to do that job and to attest to the safety of the job and the remaining structure.

It would have been the responsibility of his engineers to make that evaluation that the rest of the structure to be sound or unsound, STRUCTURELY.

I would at least expect that the remaining structure to be tested and evaluated for sound structure, saftey, public hazard, OSHA saftey..etc....

If you tore down two walls of your house and three weeks later, the rest of your house fell and killed someone, who would be to blame ? Braintree ?
Nooooooo.....YOU WOULD.

Why should Quirk be held to any different standard ? Cuz he has a business to run ?

Quirk has a responsibility to be good neighbor and citizen. Is this how he shows his citizenship ? By creating hazardous workplaces for his employees and for anyone coming onto his properties ?

Am I all alone on this ?
Am I the only one who sees it this way ?

You who dissent with my opinion, why do you see it differently ? Please explain. With detail, please!!!

I can read and listen

but their actions speak louder than any words I've seen or heard from them.

When the school department heist was discovered the FinCom should have blown the whistle loud and clear. They didn't even though they were ''in the know'' all during the proceedings. I watch the FinCom meetings and can remember when their budget rep (Feldman?) told the members how hard the school committee worked to create a responsible budget.

Whaddya call that? Not one member said one word about this issue when it was timely and now you are trying to say that they'll have their say in March? Puuulllllleeeeze.

Definitely Quirks Problem

Quirks people should have not allowed anyone in that area until the rest of the crane structure had been brought down.

They must have known that demolishing 1/2 of the structure would destabilze the other half.

By allowing workers to work in a building nearby or under the remaining crane structure, they put those people in harms way.

Quirk decided to demolish the Quincy part of the crane and not wait until Braintrees permits were in place. Very bad decision.

I disagree with you because i realize that the town has not dealt
with Quirk in a fair manner. It was very capricious and unwarrented for the town not to issue that permit. I also realize it was very self serving to just a few individuals and defenetely
not in the best interest of the town itself. I suspect that part of it is that some people are mad that Quirk picked up the ship yard at a very cheap price and now want a pice of the action.
