4400 block of Kinloch - Informal survey

Posted in: Woodlawn Park

There has been some recent discussion on the council regarding the traffic being allowed through Kinloch from the church property.

The council has done some research on the matter, and will continue to do so in the coming weeks, but we want to hear from the residents on Kinloch on your concerns, opinions about the gate from the church being open. Also, if you are a church member residing in Woodlawn Park, we'd like to know if you are using the entrance.

What we know so far:

The gate was added sometime between 1998 and 2000, in the place of a grassy berm. The road prior to that time was a dead end.

The church has just recently opened the gate to give church members more than one point to enter and exit.

So, here's your chance. Sound off. We'll be discussing this at our next council meeting. If you don't want to sign your name to this, call any of us on the council, or email us.

Thanks!

Chris Seidt

I live in the 4400 block. I am pretty much fine with it. Granted, I am typically at my own church services during this time so I am not really trying to navigate the neighborhood, but so far my experience has been that I have not really noticed much of an increase in traffic due to the gate being open on Sundays. It's a couple of hours for one day a week...I can totally live with that.

However, I am a little concerned if the church arbitrarily placed a gate without proper permission from the City or owners of that property which was once a grassy berm. Is that the case?

The developers of the subdivision obviously did not expect Kinloch to be open. There used to be a chain link fence. I think the church overstep their authority, if any, and chose to put a gateway there for their exclusive use and without regard to the neighbors.

I am a resident of Woodlawn Park and attend church at Westport Rd Church of Christ.  My family and I have been using the entrance off from Kinloch since they begun opening it.  It's quite convenient for us, not mention a safer route to and from our house. Even if I did not attend church there I would have no issue with them using Kinloch or any other street for that matter.
