A litte bit about Claymont,In 1856,the Reverend Clemson,the pastor of the Episcopal Church,and his wife settled here.Mrs.Clemson had come from the family plantation.Claymont Court,in Charles Town.West Virginia.In remembrance of her family home.She named the area Claymont.Before this change, Claymont was known as Naaman's. Named by the Dutch the first European settlement here.The name came from the Chief of the Lenni Lenape Indians,who lived along the creek.
