About Our Club

Communities in Schools, Ardmore, Oklahoma, Inc.

Afterschool

Beginning in mid-September, CIS will offer an after-school program to low-performing students. Selected students will be bussed from their elementary schools to the CIS afterschool site Monday through Thursday. Residents from Ardmore Village will teach students the lost arts of quilting, crocheting, gardening, preserving foods, and simply carpentry. Items made by the students will be sold in a student-ran store. Profits from the store will be used to fund field trips for students who have performed well at their home schools.
For a student application, contact the CIS Office at (580) 223-8762.

AmeriCorps members needed

AmeriCorps members are needed to serve as mentors in school, after school and during the summer. Members can serve up to 1700 hours during a period from September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2004. Full-time members will receive $9900 in living allowances and earn a $4,375 educational award upon completion of their service. Part-time slots are also available. Contact the CIS Office at (580) 223-8762 for more information.
