good day fellow neighbors!! as I was browsing thru other postings in this area of discussions, I noticed a message concerning codes and codes enforcement for Historic Kenwood. Myself as well as several other close neighbors have tried in vain to get 3 homes on our block sighted for unsightly grounds upkeep. After calling for 4 weeks, we were finally informed 2 of these homes had passed all violations and the 3rd had a letter waiting to be sent. Waiting? Does it really take 3 weeks to send a letter to my next door neighbor? Isn't this suppose to be a historical neighborhood? Don't we all as homeowners in Kenwood have a few guidelines we must follow to live up to living here? We are surronded by homes that have peeling paint, dirt yards, dead foilage, commercial vehicles, with discarded items in them, parked on the street, waiting for the next alley sale??? We need codes help in keeping this the neighborhood we want it to be. When one resident allows this to happen to their property, how long till we all just give up. Let's get over the parties and clubs and get back to keeping the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood a place we can all be proud of!! (thanks for your time)

What makes a ''neighborhood''?

There are two ways to improve(or raise) the neighborhood you live in. You can push it up from below(call codes, call police, drug marches, ticket cars, etc.) and you can pull it up from the top(Do clean ups, plant signs and plants, have functions that build neighborhood spirit). Both have their advantages and limitations. They are both, however, needed to make this the neighborhood we all want. What you say is very true, and maybe you were just making a point, but please don't attact one aspect because you are more concerned with another.

and when all else fails, what is left...after being members in the association, doing the marches, planting and replanting the necessary intersections, and only seeing the non particapants watching from their doorsteps, never offering the least bit of appreciation, being homeowners or rentors, it can be a bit of a heartache

You are absolutely right. It is a bit of a heartache and we who take pride in our homes and our neighborhood become very discouraged at times.....But, we go on and hope that people follow by example if nothing else.. One day it will all be worth it and we wont be able to afford to buy our own homes..

I can't wait....Until then, I keep trying...
