unsightly propertys

Come to a knitting party....

Is this the wrong time to ask if anyone would like to join my new knitting club? I thought we could all sit around at my house, tell funny jokes about farm animals, watch the drug dealers pass by and knit one....pearl two.....

Hey wait, this isn't funny and I've got to go clean out my flatbed truck full of old building materials before someone reports me.

Bye bye...knit one...pearl two...clean, clean, clean!

are you my neighbor?

well, it is sure nice to know who lives across the street....I can see your lovely dirt yard, all the lush tropical foilage, and that pile of wood in the back of your truck, yep, that's you...just wondered, what ever did you find to do with that lovely flowered chair that sat in the bed of your truck for weeks?? I am sure it found a good home...oh look, it's in the alley!!!welcome home!!
Hurrah!

Oh Boy! Another club in Kenwood. While your at the house though, why not have it on your front porch. Instead of watching drug dealers, maybe call the cops. Instead of telling jokes, why not discuss ways to make the area better. But I jest. I'm sure you've done this over and over and over and never gotten any results. Don't you realize that when we get together at these ''clubs and parties'', that we solve as many problems as we do at meetings. It is at these times that we talk about what is wrong on our block and give each other advice about it.
I wonder sometimes, really, were you guys(Diane and Raymond) wearing blinders when you moved into this area? You act like you woke up one day and everything somehow changed. We bought in this neighborhood eight yrs. ago. If you have complaints now, I can't even imagine your comments then. This area has come up so much, you would probably not believe it. These things however, don't happen overnight. I sometimes think you feel like: ''I'll make a phone call and everything will be better''. It is a slow process. One house here and one street there. Yes, we are having a great time at our clubs and parties, but we haven't stop working on other issues. The traffic plan is being implemented. The drug marches are continuing, and we had a special meeting with the city to concentrate efforts on Third Avenue. Yes, we have branched out to enjoy ourselves. If you don?’t want to join us, fine. When I see you at more meetings, at more drug marches, putting parking notices on cars, cleaning up things, maybe I?’ll join you.

Touch-E

My, my Bill, aren't we a little touch-E about all these clubs and parties? You see, I was actually kidding about my special knitting club. I was actually kidding about farm animal jokes too! Although I'm sure there are some pretty funny farm animal jokes that I haven't heard.
I did participate in the latest round of drug marches. I'm kind of shocked you didn't see me (I was the one wearing the yellow shirt). I was at the meeting about 3rd Ave. and what is in the works. I walk down my street every day and pick up trash belonging to others. I call the police WHENEVER things are going on that shouldn't be going on. I call codes and then call codes again. Bill, I even do more than that but I won't get into it on this public website. So you see, I feel I'm doing my part to better my neck of the woods and I haven't given up.
I do not feel that I moved into this neighborhood with blinders on. To assume that Bill...well, we know all know what the word assume stands for. However, no one came up to me and said, ''We have some serious drug issues in here'' or ''this really isn't the optimal neighborhood for children that have been raised well!'' A case in point...go back through the postings and check out the responses to people asking questions about Historic Kenwood. I guess if they bought in here they probably had blinders on too, right?
The point is that I'm doing my best to make things better in here and I was making light of the situation. If you love parties and clubs, by all means, shake your booty every night just don't forget to sing....Shake Shake Shake....Shake Your Groove Thing!
ps. I think we really should have a porch party at a bar/restaurant. We could all get naked, tap dance on the tables and discuss the real issues at hand.
