Follow the players in New Castle County development

Your recent articles on the threats posed to the historic Columbus Inn got me thinking about some of the players involved and the odd coincidences in New Castle County's dealings with the development industry.

Pamela Scott is the attorney trying to minimize the historic significance of both the Columbus Inn in Wilmington and the La Grange farm in Glasgow to facilitate development on behalf of their current property owners.

Scott works for Saul Ewing, the same firm that is bringing a suit against members of Friends of Historic Glasgow for speaking out in favor of preserving La Grange. This same firm has been hired by New Castle County Department of Land Use in certain development matters.

She is married to Paul Clark, New Castle County Council president. And who co-sponsored last year's county ordinance 05-187, which deletes the requirement for a public hearing on major "open space" development plans after the initial plans are approved, and restricts the public hearing process to the exploratory phase, making things easier for developers? Paul Clark. Am I the only one who sees some connections here?
