GOALS - TO ESTABLISH RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN COMMUNITY WITH NEIGHBORS
INVITING EVERYONES INPUT TO ACHIEVE QUALITY OF LIFE
Our first annual NATIONAL NIGHT OUT BLOCK PARTY was held in August 1995. This was the beginning of our concern known as CRIME WATCH. We received a registration form from the CITY OF ARLINGTON to organize this association. The plan is to have block captains in each designated area to serve as point of contact. We currently have community involvement and as always encouraging everyone (children and adults) to participate.
Our association was organized on September 14. 2000 with 7 neighbors present. The name of our area was given GLEN SPRINGS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION,
which is a member of THE NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK. This network is a program which provides open communication between the city and its neighborhoods.
Some of the current benefits with network include:
Free neighborhood website - a nationally recognized internet based network
Eligible to apply for street signs to mark neighborhood street boundaries
Neighborhood Handbook series: Organization, Planning Handbooks
Our common goal, agreed upon for quality of life, was the need to establish relationships (getting to known one another) before proceeding to other areas. This is also to include THE ARLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT specifically the West patrol Division on Little Rd.
Success of the association:
We asked for dead end sign to control traffic through the neighborhood
We were asked to attend a City Hall meeting to present our concerns on the new housing development coming on the service road.
Thank you so much
