Historic Kenwood

One Last Hurrah!

Posted in: Historic Kenwood
Well, rumor has it that this site will soon go dark. If you think ''I'' may have disagreed with your opinion, you ain't seen nothing yet. The powers that be(and a vote by the association{not a unanimous one}) have decided that negative comments are a bad thing. They portray the neighborhood in a bad light to the rest of the world who may read this site. If you've read some of my other posts, you know I don't agree with this. Negative comments and discussions can lead us to solve some of our problems. They also show how much we care. Their alternative to this site is a list serve e-mail. You can join this e-mail list(If you live in Kenwood) by registering at:

No, the site is not as easy to read. No, you can't stay ''anonymous'' if you want to(which I think sould be your option). I still haven't found out how or if you can look at archives. I do encourage all of you to join this new area if this goes away. I believe all speach should be free. They believe they control the speech on this site as it is part of their domain. Let's not let our discussions be suppressed. It has been fun.

Freedom of Speech

This concerns me very deeply. I may not like/agree with some of the postings here as I'm sure people might not like/agree with my postings. I feel though, that we are all trying to accomplish the same things, just in different ways. Is that such a bad thing? As long as we follow the terms and policies of the Neighborhood Link domain, we are free to express our issues and concerns regarding Kenwood. Afterall, doesn't the link on Kenwood home page read...TALK ABOUT IT...DISCUSS LOCAL ISSUES AND CONCERNS WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS? Isn't that exactly what people are doing? Since when did local issues and concerns amongst Kenwoodians become a marketing tool for this neighborhood?
I am a firm advocate of freedom of speech! I'm going to express my first amendment right by saying the following two things: 1. If Neighborhood Link omits the discussion area for the Kenwood site, they had better think about doing it for all neighborhood sites because nothing is going on here that is different from other neighborhood sites except for the quantity of hits this site gets. I would tend to think that the activity on this site would drastically diminish once the ''talk about it'' area was deleted. That would not be a good thing for sponsors who run banner ads and want to accomplish exactly what this site is accomplishing....traffic. 2. Since the Kenwood association doesn't privately own this site, I hope that the board has contacted the ACLU or lawyers to make sure they are operating within legal limits based on the cyber laws that govern this particular situation in the state of Florida.

I too, am not afraid to sign my name.

WHAT!!!!!!!

WHO ARE THE POWERS THAT BE. SO THEY DON'T LIKE NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!! HOW ABOUT FASCIST SENSORS. McCARTHYITES!!! STALINISTS!!

This site should be a free-wheeling forum to express concern and hope for this neighborhood. Do they really want it to be all bar-b-q recipes and when the next quilting bee will be??? Or how to plant a garden??

I truly feel that a free forum for discussion is one of the things that make this neighborhood so attractive to new buyers and those of us who plan to remain here for a long time. Or at least I thought I did. Probably no big loss as I don't always agree with the powers that be.

And yes that is my name. Most of you know me and I hope feel the same way. LETS speak up about this issue.

If they have to shutdown the site for economic reasons I want to see the books. Otherwise I really don't see what the problem is>

Not a Cent!

This site doesn't cost Kenwood a cent! It is underwritten by corporate sponsorships in each city. AT&T is one of the big players here. I'd advise anyone who feels strongly about this to take a look at the terms and conditions of Neighborhood Link. We are COMPLETELY within the acceptable boundaries of these terms and conditions.
Some postings might be a little radical but who are we to judge what's a legitimate concern of our fellow neighbor? If someone has an issue or concern, well then, IT'S AN ISSUE OR CONCERN TO THAT PERSON! If someone here has a solution or at least an avenue that a person can pursue to help with their issue, the postings are POSITIVE! I'm really tired of reading postings that start off with ''I'm afraid to post here'' or ''I'm a whiner''! Don't be afraid and no, you're not whiners! EVERYONE'S ISSUE COUNTS! Obviously, there are many great things going on in Kenwood too because I see a lot of positive things posted on this site.
I personally am not an organized club person (as I'm sure most have noticed), but because of this site, because of postings from people like Bill, I now have respect for what our clubs in Kenwood are accomplishing.
I've got news for the board... as people move into this neighborhood, pay over 100k for their homes and are computer literate, the more postings there will be on this site because of concerns/questions/issues they might not have seen or had when they purchased in here. Some people don't have time to attend meetings because of conflicting schedules but they can jump on their computer when time allows.
Up and coming neighborhoods don't start up web sites, put in bold print under their discussion link that this is the area to voice concerns/issues/questions and then try to suppress the voice of the neighborhood because it's putting a cramp in their marketing strategy! SHAME ON YOU!!!
