MAKING HOMEOWNERSHIP A REALITY. Mayor Anthony Williams has a goal of making the District first in the nation in new homeownership. Working with the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Mayor is making housing ample and affordable for current residents and those looking to make the District their new home. DHCD's programs include:

+The Home Purchase Assistance Program: Provides interest-free and low-interest loans for houses, condominiums, or cooperative apartments.
+The Homestead Housing Preservation Program: Acquires tax-delinquent properties and offers them to first-time homebuyers for as little as $250.
+The DC Employer Assisted Housing Program and DC Metropolitan Police Housing Assistance Program: Offer grants and financial incentives to purchase homes in the city.
