The District of Columbia has undertaken a number of neighborhood planning initiatives, but these efforts have traditionally not been coordinated as part of a citywide vision. Citizens have worked hard to improve their communities, yet often feel they received little support from city government.
Government agencies have worked to improve neighborhoods, but have not always responded to the priorities of the community. Over the years, we have worked in good faith for our city, but not in unison.
The mission of Neighborhood Action is to empower citizens to improve their communities by mobilizing and coordinating the resources of government, businesses, nonprofits, the faith community, neighborhood leaders, and citizens themselves.
