WHATS MISSING?

BRIAN,
WHAT A GREAT LETTER AND DISCUSSION STARTER, THERE IS NO PAT ANSWER, BUT ONE THING THAT IS MISSING IS ATTITUDE. I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH THE GOING ONS OF OUR COMMUNITY FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS. WHAT I HAVE FOUND IS THAT WHEN THE TOWNSHIP REZONES LAND IT IS NOT AS HIGH AS THE CITY AND (SINCE GARY W. HAS BEEN VOTED IN OFFICE) THEY MAKE SURE THE PUBLIC AND THE NEIGHBORS HAVE INPUT, IT IS NOT DONE VIA EMERGENCY. WHEN THE DONLY DEVELOPEMENT WAS DONE ON MILNOR RD. ALL THE NEIGHBORS AND THE CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS HAD AN OPPURTUNITY TO VOICE THEIR OPINION. I WAS THERE FOR JUST ABOUT ALL THE MEETINGS AND EVERYONE AGREED TO WHAT MR. DONLY HAD PROPOSED, SO THAT IN ITSELF SHOWS GREAT RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE.
THANK YOU
BRUCE ROOKSTOOL
Be careful Brian

By One who knows......
Fortunately

I don't gamble, therefore I have no hand to tip.

The City's Actions are Illegal

How can a city government claim to represent the people when they bypass due process and conduct secret meetings to establish what the zoning will be BEFORE the public has any knowledge of the landowners intentions to rezone? Moreover, how can these same city government officials pass these ''preannexation agreements'' as an emergency and deny the citizens an avenue for input or recourse? This is exactly what Pickerington has been doing and it is illegal. The due process, outlined in the city's charter, is ignored and city employees are negotiating densities with developers. I thought that is why there are ELECTED officials at city hall; to fill the seats in the service committee and debate the pros and cons of rezoning. The process, that is law, has been illegally circumvented and only now are Pickerington's citizens beginning to see the truth. Could it already be too late?

By contrast, Violet Township does encourage citizen input.

Yet, Violet Township has failed in their attempt to toe-the-line with developers and offer higher densities to avoid annexation into the city. That policy is a failure and the examples are:

Spring Creek, Sycamore Creek and Wellington Park.

I hope township officials will never again believe they can work with the current administration because, time after time, the city has proven to be untrustworthy and hostile. That is to say, until Maxey, Parker, Fox, Wright, Moonbrake, Postage and most importantly, Hughes and Bushman are gone, there should NOT be cooperation on ANY issue.
