SMILE Station and Oaks Pioneer Church available for events

SMILE, an acronym for Sellwood-Moreland Improvement League, one of Portland?’s 95 recognized neighborhood associations, owns its own building--SMILE Station, on the southeast corner of S.E. 13th and Tenino (a block south of Tacoma Street) in Sellwood--and makes it available for rent at low rates for meetings, receptions, and other events. The building, once a fire station, has an industrial kitchen available, and accommodates up to about 70 people. SMILE is also the renting agent for the historic 1851 ?“Oaks Pioneer Church?”, on S.E. Spokane Street at Grand, just north of the east end of the Sellwood Bridge, where over 300 weddings take place each year, in additions to memorials and funerals and other occasions.
