Story Hill is a neighborhood located on a hill directly north of Miller Park on the west side of Milwaukee. It features single-family homes, mostly made of brick or stone, and beautifully tree-lined streets. As if leaping from the pages of a children's fairy tail book, Story Hill is the perfect name for the neighborhood. In actuality, the area is named after the Story brothers of the late 1800s, who founded a quarry where Miller Park lies, and built their homes above it. In the 1920s, Story Hill grew and became a sanctuary for middle class Milwaukeeans from downtown, as they sought larger lots and a more suburban feel. Today the neighborhood is characterized by its quiet feel and the Old World charm of the nearly 300 homes here.
Famous people who once lived in Story Hill include the Oscar-winning actor, Spencer Tracy, and the former Green Bay Packers defensive end, Lionel Aldridge.
