Highland Christian Fellowship is within the boundaries of the Bonnycastle Homestead Association. The Association is named for the Bonnycastle family that originally owned the property that now makes up the area of the Homestead Association. In fact, the church property includes the Bonnycastle Mansion where the family lived. Unfortunately, there isn't much original left to the mansion. It was used by a Kentucky Home School and then a synagogue. The porches were torn off, a wing added, the windows replaced, etc. It was in pretty bad shape when we purchased the property. It currently has two apartments and two offices. We have fixed it up and researched the history of the family and the property. We hosted an open house in the fall during the Festivus held by the Bonnycastle Homestead Association. We have a number of historical photos of the property, the mansion, and the residents on display.
