CRIME REPORT; 02-07-11
Good Morning! Here are some examples of calls answered over the weekend…
At about 9:30 P.M. last night, Officer Merrick contacted a 51 year old male in the 1700 block of Butternut on a Public Intoxication call. Upon contacting this subject, it was found that he was extremely intoxicated and was a danger to himself and others. He was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication. While he was in the back seat of the patrol car, he kicked the rear window causing damage. During this altercation, he was sprayed with O.C. He then spit on the officer. He was transported to the Taylor County Jail and was charged with Public Intoxication, Criminal Mischief and a 3rd Degree Felony Harassment of a Public Servant.
At about 12:05 A.M. this morning, Officer Hutchinson stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Ambler for failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. Upon contacting the driver, a 23 year old male, it was found that he was intoxicated. He performed the field sobriety tests and failed. He also provided a breath sample that was over the legal limit. He was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Taylor County Jail.
Finally at about 1:05 A.M. this morning, Officer Valdez responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of North Willis. Upon arrival he observed a vehicle leaving without headlights that matched the description of involved parties. He initiated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle. The driver, a 27 year old male, exited the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving his four children alone in the vehicle. After a short chase, he was captured. The driver was also intoxicated. He did perform the field sobriety tests and failed. It was also found that he had local warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated due to the child passengers, Evading Detention and two local warrants.
