Good Morning! Here are some examples of calls answered in the past 24hrs…
At about 1:30 this morning Officer Steffen Hartness observed a vehicle drive up onto the curb in the 2200 blk of S Danville. Officer Hetness stopped this vehicle and contacted the male driver who appeared intoxicated. He was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Rests which he failed. He was placed under arrest and asked to provide a breath sample. The results were 0.241 and 0.248. He was charged with DWI.
At about 3:30 this morning Officer Andrew Valdez stopped a car in the 700 blk of Park for expired registration. The male driver gave a false name but the name he gave had a warrant hit. Officer Valdez attempted to arrest the man who tried to flee. When officers caught up to him he punched Officer Damian Hutchinson in the eye before he was subdued. This man will be charged with Assault on a Public Servant, Evading Detention, Fail to Identify, and he had an outstanding Parole Violation warrant.
At about 4:30 this morning Officer Darren Ruiz was dispatched to a possible Burglary in progress and saw a man jump over a chain link fence in the alley of the 5200 blk of Burbank. Officer Ruiz went to contact this man and saw a bottle in plain sight containing some reacting chemicals that are consistent with the meth amphetamine manufacture process. The man was found a short time later hiding under a vehicle in the front yard of the residence. This man gave consent for a search of a camper on the property and they discovered the chemicals to manufacture meth amphetamine, some marijuana, some meth amphetamine, and a sawed off shotgun. This man was charged with Manufacture of Meth Amphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
