City of Bellemeade

speeders

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

After I made that post last night, a friend informed me that hiring a police officer on a part-time basis is not that simple.  If the officer issues citations for speeding, reckless driving,  criminal mischief, or whatever; the officer would have to show up on the court date or the charges could possibly be dismissed.  That could turn into a lot of hours of pay that would NOT be spent in Bellemeade.

Why does LMPD not have the assets?  Hey 2 days a week from 5 to 6:30; how much of a strain is that?  How many of us have actually called Mayor Abramson's office or LMPD Cheif White's office, 3?  Raise your hand if you have complained to METRO.  Raise your hand with the phone in it and do your part in taking back our streets.

And , on the having to show up in court deal, I bet not many tickets would have to be written.  Just the presence of a few red and blue lights about 3 times a week during that rush hour would cause some of these jerks to re-route. And, it just hit me:  did not one poster say that Jon Ackerson had promised to get something done about the problem.  Call him too.

I know the guy in the blue truck would still be out there, but I bet if he really gives it some thought he will realize the dangers and consequences of speeding in a residential area.  Pray for him.

Write down the vehicle description and the plate number and letters.  I will forward the list on to our LMPD Neighborhood Watch contact.  If the same vehicle gets turned in multiple times, red flags should go up somewhere - who knows, that driver might have other reasons LMPD would want to talk to him/her.

Is this the lull before the storm or did the weather slow the speeders down?  Surely you have not given up raising sand until you get more speed humps.  I was driving on Chadwick toward Shelbyville Road last Friday and saw a big truck speeding north on Chadwick.  He must have been doing 45 and the driver apparently did not see the sign or the hump.  I thought for a moment that the driver was losing control so I quickly pulled over nearly into the yard at 116.

The truck was an Anderson Windows installation truck.  I later saw the truck down about  209 or 211 N. Chadwick or maybe even further on toward Whipps Mill.

Is there any hope for a remedy to this MAJOR problem?

the remedy and the cure is 2 more speed "humps". What are you hiding from "kity kat"
