City of Bellemeade

speeders

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

North Chadwick was a county road when Mooregate was built. It still is a Metro road and Metro does the snow removal and repaving. Metro was willing to do half of the speed humps and by their design and placement. I have been reading the regulations for speed humps. They must be 1200 feet between the crowns and 1200 feet between the intersection and the first hump. Louisville Metro Public Works made the final decision on placement and how many would fit on North Chadwick.

Mr  Mayor, you stated in your last post under Speed Humps on Bellemeade Road the the City Commission elected to put in only four after studying the request. I addressed that in my last post there.

What!?!?  Were we so glad to get Metro to pay half that we bargained away our real need?  Ah, the power of the Almighty Dollar.

I don't care how you cut it; speeding on North Chadwick Road is a real issue; it needs a real solution, not whimsical rhetoric.  The residents on North Chadwick deserve better.  Amen?

Amen!!

Thanks to Mayor Odom-Groh who came out today to see for himself what happens on our street daily during rush hour.  He saw exactly what numerous residents on this block have seen and complained about for a long time.  Now maybe we can get another speed hump at the point where Dorchester, Southampton, and North Chadwick intersect near the Moorgate entrance?

Is there any way we can hire a policeman for an hour each afternoon?  Or would it be cheaper (I hate that word - so let's use  less expensive) to just put in one of those bone jarring humps (I started to say brain rattling, but that would imply that the people who endanger our residents have a brain.).

During the three days I have witnessed the idiocracy of just a few, I have also noticed that not only are they speeding they are on a cell phone.  Double jeopardy!!

Maybe there is a way we could deputize the residents who are fed up with the situation?  I knida liked the Elliott post about residents forming a caravan of slow drivers but it would have to be done on both sides of the street else the speed mongers would pass them and run down somebody or a mail box.

More speed humps, more speed humps, more speed humps, Hip HIp Hip Hooray!!  More speed humps!!!   (I used to be a cheerleader once.)

I actually agree...that maybe it should be considered and looked into Hiring a Bellemeade policeperson.  It would have mulitple benefits, 1) speeders; 2)breakins 3)code enforcement....these all seem to be common complaints and problems that arrise.

Instead of making this Speedhump City, which non of us want...and LMPD doesn't seem to have the forces to supply us with a "patrol" everyday; It should seriously be considered.  If we had a police presence patrol the City everyday...criminals would think twice before breaking into our homes or the homes of our neighbors.  The most troublesome part of that is those were happening during the hours of 12noon-4pm; speeders are 5p-7p; SO

if we (Bellemeade) hired a Police it could be from Noon-7 M-F and a few hours on Sat.

Something to consider!
