First official written bid is in at 37k for everything installed.  I'm waiting for the two other companies that I met with to present their bids as well.  I'll post them when I receive them.

No offense intended here MH..but this has to be the most ludricrous idea I have heard in a while. This HOA is limping along like a three-legged dog and we are wasting time, energy and resources to consider how to find money to pay for this.  It is indeed an embarrassment to drive home and see the sorry state of this community.

Wouldn't this be considered a capital expenditure that would have to go to the community for a vote and not just another reckless board decision?

Yeah.  This will not be a board decision.  Once i have all the bids, I will present them at a meeting AND have Brett draft a notice explaining in detail what the plan is.  Then it will be sent to the community to vote on with a special assessment.  If the final decision is as low as 37k, a special assessment could be as low as $50 to get it done.  And this will save us up to 80k a year!  It will pay for itself within 6-8 months.  I am still ironing out a few details with it and I will post here as I get more info.

This would secure our financial security for at least the next few years and I wouldn't see ANY reason to raise the HOA dues within the next few years if we get this done.  But, as I said, this would be a community vote, not a board decision, so the homeowners will need to know all the facts, benefits, and drawbacks in order to make an informed decision.  It's important that folks attend the next couple of meetings to get this info.  Even if every home receives the notice from Brett, I'm sure most people just chuck stuff from Oasis in the garbage, so they would have no idea about the water well project.
