I received a response from Councilman Ackerson containing his email to a Lt. Kelly of LMPD asking for patrol cars "to correct these speeders" and another from Officer Pickett (our LMPD Neighborhood Watch contact) stating that he had run radar on this street before so he is aware of the dangerous situation.  Officer Pickett said he would pass my email along to the "traffic guys."

When you see them on the street, please email LMPD and Councilman Ackerson and thank them.  Now let's work on getting two more speed humps properly placed.

I saw police cars driving through here twice today.

I saw several north-bound speeders brake suddenly at the southern-most speed hump on North Chadwick.  Appeared to be a rather dangerous happening.  Took me a few minutes to figure out that it is hard to see during reduced visibility (fog, rain, dawn, dusk, etc.).  A fresh paint job might help, and as an aside, maybe even paint a fake speed hump further south on North Chadwick toward Shelbyville Road.?.?.?

Mr. Mayor, I enjoyed your posting about the Shelbyhurst sidewalks.  That was to get your attention:  Are speed humps going to be on the next City Commission meeting.agenda?  Wink

Neighbors, if you want something done, show up in force at the meetings.  It is too easy to sit home and complain and get nothing done.  Someone once wrote, "Bad government exists when good people do nothing."  Our city government is not bad, but not enough speed humps is.  Smile
